Extended range parallel shaft geared motors
GearTopper: Linear actuators
Aandrijf Technisch Buro adds Nautimove ELECTROMAST to its product rangeAfter many years of cooperation with the linear transmission producer Setec, Aandrijf Technisch Buro will soon add the Nautimove ELECTROMAST to its product range. The ELECTROMAST is a linear electromechanical actuator with telescopic carbon elements, which is used on luxury yachts. “The Nautimove ELECTROMAST,” says Sraar van Rens, “is used to move the navigation lights up and down at the bow of a superyacht." According to maritime rules, this is required for yachts with a length of 50 meters and more. "In cooperation with some Italian shipyards, Setec has developed a compact and lightweight solution, which offers many advantages over traditional (hydraulic) light masts” says Van Rens. Ecological, efficient and functional The ELECTROMAST, as its name suggests, is fully electrical driven. The system therefore has no hydraulic power pack, pipes or valves, but functions without the need for large amounts of oil. From an ecological point of view, this means avoiding the risk of oil leakage that a hydraulic system could cause, which eliminates unwanted leaks in the technical room or leaking directly into the sea at its source. The system is very energy efficient. Van Rens explains: “The ELECTROMAST only needs power to make its up and down movement, once in position the brake motor will hold the mast in place and will not consume any power. Because the ELECTROMAST is completely hollow, it is easy to guide the cables to power the lights internally. In this way, the cables are protected, out of sight and can be winded on a reel at the bottom of the system, which provides excellent aesthetics and functionality.” Silence and performance in one kit The ELECTROMAST rises from the deck with its polished carbon telescopic tubes and includes anodized aluminium flanges, which will look elegant on any superyacht. "They are elegant", continues Van Rens "and extremely quiet, thanks to a transmission that has a very low noise level." The entire system has been developed in such a way that the mast is driven both when retracting and extending, which is different from hydraulic masts, so salt deposits on the carbon tubes do not cause problems when retracting. In the development phase, a lot of attention was paid to the ease of installation of the light mast, by positioning the mounting flange close to the exit of the telescopic elements, the ELECTROMAST can be mounted solid to the hull of the yacht, completely or partly below deck. “The Nautimove Electromast”, says Van Rens, “can be supplied with all kinds of accessories: a flange cover that closes at flush deck; a flange for mounting support cables; a reel and cable guide roller for the wiring of the lights; lighting brackets and also the upper and intermediate flange welded to the hull. The aim is to prepare a complete kit to facilitate and speed up all operations in the yard, and to minimize site installation and design times.” Many of the accessories mentioned above are personalized depending on the geometry and individual superyacht, adapting to the engineering wishes of the yard. The advantages of the ELECTROMAST at a glance:
Due to the exclusive collaboration between Setec and Aandrijf Technisch Buro, the Dutch distribution of the Nautimove ELECTROMAST system will be reserved for Aandrijf Technisch Buro. The entire system, from transmission with telescopic mast, control panel and complete commissioning, will therefore in The Netherlands be provided by Aandrijf Technisch Buro.
