At the beginning of April, we delivered two screw jacks from our Italian partner Setec. These SEL-100T screw jacks with a traveling nut on a trapezoidal screw, have a lifting capacity of 10 tons each and a stroke length of 300mm. We fitted the screw jacks with a 1.5kW / 6-pole electric motor with size 112 of the brand MT Motori Elettrici. The linear drives will be used on a vacuum lifting table in a Belgian chocolate factory.

Some time ago, we received a request to drive a scoop wheel in the sand and gravel extraction industry. The sand wheel is part of a dewatering plant that removes water from the sand, making it drier to come out of the plant. Dewatering the sand fraction is a continuous and slowly rotating process.

For this, we built a 5-stage planetary gearbox with bevel input stage, assembled from our large stock of Dinamic Oil subassemblies. With a ratio of 1:1206 and an output speed of 1.3 rpm, this gearbox has a (theoretical) lifetime of more than 20,000 hours.

The gearbox is fitted with a 5,5kW electric motor and has a 130mm hollow output shaft including a shrink disk in a heavy duty version. In our spray cabin, we provided the planetary transmission with a 3-layer epoxy coating because it is placed outdoors.

At the end of last of year we were contacted by a machine builder to offer planetary gearboxes for a mixer application. Since not all application details were available at that time, we offered them with the note to check the thermal capacity of the units later. After our customer got the order for the complete mixer, we started detailed engineering and also did the thermal calculation. We discovered there were two options; either cooling the planetary gearboxes or switching to industrial gearboxes with a much higher thermal capacity. The last option was chosen since it was a better solution due to the environmental conditions in the factory where the mixer was going to be installed.

We are happy that our customer and the end user trusted our advice and that we finally got the order to supply two I.Mak industrial gearboxes with 30kW electric motors. These shaft mounted gear units will be placed on the mixer shafts, which are supported in two large plummer blocks with spherical roller bearings that we supplied by our sister company Q-Bearings as a complete package.
