​At first glance, these four planetary gearboxes with bevel input look identical, but take a closer look. They all have 3 planetary stages, a bevel input stage and an electric motor adapter. A visual difference shows that two of them have an input for electric motor size 180 and the other two for size 200. The difference you can’t see, are the different ratios due to different planetary stages. 

The output shaft with spline flange is connected to the drum of the winch. Because of the bevel input it still has a quite compact design. All four gearboxes will drive electric winches on dock cranes. Earlier we supplied the slewing gearboxes for these cranes.  

For sure that we love special gearboxes, but we also do standard products like this winch drive. The WD-8014-1062-ME180 is a 4-stage winch drive that we built for a customer to be mounted in a custom made winch. It has 3 rotating planetary stages and an additional planetary pre-stage to reach a ratio of 1:1062. It is currently the biggest size planetary winch drive we can built from stock materials and it has a dynamic peak torque of 197.200Nm.

A planetary winch drive is designed to create a compact and flexible product that can resist heavy loads. This planetary gear unit is easy to maintain, even when it is built into the drum. All connections are located on the side of the motor.

​No, it’s not a lemon which is ready to be squeezed and not a Dutch wooden shoe as well. It’s a brand-new planetary gearbox with bevel input stage in a yellow jacket!

The output has a hollow shaft and is equipped with a shrink disk. The gearbox is provided with a fully cast iron electric motor (size 100). The entire transmission is painted in a customer specific, 2-layer yellow epoxy coating, because of the tough conditions in the mushroom industry. Industrial gearboxes are usually the big brothers of geared motors. Industrial gearboxes are mostly used in more heavy duty applications, such as conveyor belts, winches, cranes, trolley drives, extruders, material handling, water treatment, mixers, shredders etc. There are two different kinds of housings for industrial gearboxes, the split housing and the monobloc housing. Both of them are having advantages and disadvantages.

The monobloc housings are very strong, solid and have a high resistance against shock loads, but the maintenance on monobloc housings is much more difficult then split housings.​
​There are many different kind of shaft arrangements available, like parallel shaft, bevel helical with horizontal or vertical input shaft, with extruder output etc. Many kinds of male and female shafts are available, as well as options like direct motor inputs, reinforced bearings, forced lubrication and/or cooling etc.
 
I.Mak newest serie industrial gearboxes is the MA-MK serie. At the moment they are available in six different sizes but the number of sizes is growing fast. The lead times are relatively short compared to the market which gives good opportunities in the current worldwide situation.

Before the summer holidays we shipped eight screw jacks with special motors to be used on a pipe coating plant. The units will be used in wet conditions and therefor they are equipped with a stainless steel screw and clevis end. 

To keep the correct position of the screw, also in case of vibration of the product, the motor has a brake which is completely protected and has stainless steel plates to avoid sticking under these conditions. Next to that the windings and terminal box are filled with epoxy.

The protection bellow and 2 layers of epoxy paint make this screw jacks suitable to be used in wet conditions. Like to know more?
