The electric light mast for superyachts

Field project: the ELECTROMAST on the Polaris FR37

​Earlier we introduced the Nautimove ELECTROMAST, which is an electric light mast for superyachts to move the navigation lights up and down. It consist of a linear electromechanical actuator with telescopic carbon rods. 

Polaris FR37

​In this article we highlight the mast on the Italian superyacht Polaris FR37, built by Rossinavi. The total length of the superyacht is 70 meters and 12,7 meters wide.

​This specific mast has a construction stroke of 9500mm. The first 2 rods of the mast have a stroke of approximately 3500mm, while the 3rd one (the smallest one) is about 2000mm. The reason that in this case not all rods have the same length, is because the navigation lights (on top of the third rod) and the towing lights (on top of the second rod) need to be at a distance of 2000mm, once extended, according to the navigation rules. 

Advantages

​The Nautimove ELECTROMAST has a number of advantages over traditional, hydraulic light masts. It is a fully electric system, so no disadvantages of oil pipes or oil tank on the superyacht. It is also a lightweight and compact system, thanks to the carbon telescopic tubes. Furthermore it is aesthetic, safe and silent system, which is energy efficient and friendly for the environment.
