Bevel helical geared motors for a portal bridge
For a project in the theatre industry, we supplied two mechanically coupled bevel helical geared motors (IRK-153 with hollow shaft Ø120mm from I.Mak), which will be used to drive a winch system of a portal bridge. The portal bridge in a theatre can be adjusted in height to change the size of the stage opening.
Theatre version
The geared motors we supplied have several key features. The set included two 11kW brake motors, each with a second shaft end. The brakes were a special (silent) theatre version and equipped with a proximity switch for air gap monitoring since extreme safety is required in theatre industry. Furthermore, the transmission is engineered in a way, that each single brake and gearbox can statically support the full bridge weight.
Mechanical coupling
Our scope of supply for this portal bridge was completed by cardan shafts and counter flanges. These shafts create the mechanical coupling between the two shaft ends of the electric brake motors. The entire transmission was painted in a customer-specific color and the gearboxes were filled with oil.
