Flexible disc couplings

Disc couplings are torsionally rigid couplings that transmit torque without backlash. Thanks to the use of thin flexible discs, they can compensate for axial, radial and angular misalignments. Disc couplings are often used in applications where precise alignment is difficult to achieve, such as connections between motors and gearboxes, motors and pumps or various wheel drives and screw jacks.

The wide range of disc couplings from Northon Trasmissioni in Italy comes standard with discs made from stainless steel AISI 304 and ground bolts. The range covers nominal torques from 100Nm up to 92.000Nm.

Northon’s disc couplings are produced entirely in-house and thanks to a large stock of standard products and raw materials, lead times are short and flexible. They are also well known for their expertise in special designs and critical applications, where couplings are engineered and manufactured to meet customer-specific requirements and extreme operating conditions.

Characteristics of flexible disc couplings

  • Suitable for up to 65,000 Nm nominal torque
  • Speeds of up to 12,000 rpm possible on small models
  • Maximum permissible bore with keyway is 205 mm
  • How torsionally rigid, maintenance-free and suitable for high speeds
  • Many versions of hub length and flange possible
